I was born and raised in Tampa Bay, Florida. I grew up on the beach and adore anything having to do with the sand and ocean. I moved from Florida to NYC after high school to go to the Fashion Institute of Technology. I’ve had internships with fashion houses like BCBG Max Azria and Alberta Ferretti. I knew I loved fashion but I wasn’t thrilled with the showroom/retail side. It just wasn’t for me. I’ve been able to fine tune what it is exactly I want to do by first finding out what I DON’T want to do (I’m sure many of you can relate.) I knew I loved fashion and wanted it to be a part of my life. I also love writing, so boom, “Fashion Journalism!”
I transferred from FIT to Arizona State University to attend the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. After graduation I moved to L.A. I soon landed a gig with Trillion Media as a On-Camera Fashion Correspondent for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I got to interview designers like Randolf Duke, Sue Wong and Nikki Hilton. Those interviews and all my hosting footage was distributed to newsfeeds on cell phones in China. After spending about a year and a half in L.A. landing random jobs like fashion stylist’s assistant/bartender/model (I know, I know, such a cliché!) I moved back to my hometown of Tampa Bay, FL. I had been gone almost 6 years and was feeling very homesick.
I wanted to go to graduate school and after being home for 2 years in Florida I was jonesing for the Big Apple again. I was accepted to NYU for the Masters in Publishing & New Media. Once again, I wanted combine my love of fashion and writing. My goal was to work for a major fashion glossy. I accomplished that goal when I was hired by Conde Nast’s Allure magazine. I worked as an intern in the Integrated Marketing Department. I was extremely fortunate in that my boss didn’t treat me like an intern. There were no runs to Starbucks or filing. Since I was a graduate student with real work experience, she let me take responsibility and have ownership over projects. I learned a tremendous amount in the 6 months I was there. As my time at Allure was coming to an end, I was offered a position with Enter: New Media, a social media marketing agency.
I’m now the Account Executive for all of Enter: New Media’s fashion and retail clients like Vogue, People Style Watch, The Bay, Brahmin and Chico’s FAS. I absolutely love my job and I’m so lucky I get to work in fashion as well as new media/publishing. It’s an exciting time in the online media and social media industry as the economy begins to pick-up. We work with fashion bloggers on a daily basis, which is what gave me this inspiration to finally start one. It was always a thought in the back of my head but I needed a swift kick in the ass, so “thank you” to all the fashion bloggers out there for the inspiration!
