One of my favorite things to do in NYC is take
food tours. You pick an
area of the city (Chinatown, Meatpacking,
Soho, ect) and a food guide takes you to all the hidden food gems in the area. You typically stop at around 6 spots and get to taste their specialty. You also get a little insight to the history of the area. I went to the
East Village, an area full of diverse culture and
restaurants. These are a few of my favorites! PS, if you decide to go on a food tour, make sure to come hungry...and bring some
Pepto or
Zantac, overeating is a hazard!

This was a hidden Ukrainian restaurant that has little grey grandmas cooking in the kitchen. They don't have any set hours so hopefully you're lucky enough to catch them when they are open.

Absolutely delicious! I have no idea what it is (slight language barrier with staff) but it was SO good!

Pommes Frites, a restaurant that only serves french fries and is open until 3am. That's right, french fries until 3am! It's like the bar gods answered our prayers!

Pommes Frittes serves over 20 different kinds of ketchup and dips.

Fried fish balls. Yup, I said it, fried fish balls!

Authentic Italian Cannoli with pistachios!
I've always wanted to do a food tour in NYC! Looks amazingly fun!
