Work Day to Date Night Look

LOVE this French Connection striped, bandage style dress. Very comfortable and perfect to wear to work then go straight out for cocktails....Ok, maybe it depends on your work. I work in a creative/fashion industry so short and tight is acceptable, may NOT be appropriate for teachers or anyone in the medical profession (someone could hurt themselves!) Fortunately the local Fashion Police (aka construction workers outside my building) gave it a 2 thumbs up....at least I thought it was thumbs...

Dress: French Connection, Shoes: Loft

Necklace: Given to me by someone very special, it's my name in hieroglyphics from Egypt. Watch: Michele, Ring: Aquamarine with diamonds, Bracelets: Tiffany & Co. J. Crew, and my great-grandmothers pearls.

Workday Wardrobe- Zara Sale!

So what girl doesn't get completely excited when the SALE signs go up in the window of Zara? My favorite find was this pleated, or as I like to call it "accordion," skirt. Perfect for work on these warm NYC days. DISCLAIMER: DO NOT walk over subway grates when a breeze blows through. I had a less then graceful Marilyn Monroe moment....

What's hotter, the outfit or the Werewolf?

A couple of my girlfriends are getting married this summer and since they share many mutual friends they decided to do a dual-bachelorette party, brilliant idea-2 birds, one stone!
For the big night out all the girls were instructed to wear black and the brides-to-be would wear white. Yes, Miami in the summer (I was thinking white and neon) and I was told to wear black, bummer!  How the hell could I make black fun for the heat in Miami during the summer? BRIGHT accessories!
I went with a basic black bandage style dress with bright turquoise, green and pink accessories....but I think by far my hottest accessorie was sexy Werewolf Joe Manganiello from HBO's True Blood and Magic Mike stripper ,...but I'll let you decide? ....Now where can I stick some singles....?
On Her: Dress: Express, Purse: Rebecca Minkoff, Necklace: Soho vendor, Shoes:Paolo
On Him:...um...?

Beautiful Bachelorettes!

Hot Weather Work Wardrobe Staple!

The temperatures in NYC are sweltering, this week it's been in the mid 90's and it's supposed to hit 100+ degrees this weekend (I'm having Florida and Phoenix dejavu!) I'm not sure if it's all the concrete, but the city feels like an oven.
One of the biggest challenges I'm having, as I'm sure many other fashionable women stuck in hot and humid weather are, is what to wear to work in the stifling weather. Theres nothing worse then walking and subwaying it to work and be a melted mess upon arrival. On the weekends and my off time I'm thrilled to be wearing a tank and shorts. Growing up in Florida. I know when it's hot and sticky outside I'd prefer as little material on my body as possible (-er, you know what I mean!) But I don't think my Havaianas are appropriate work attire.
I've been on the hunt for the best light weight material to roam comfortably around the city in as well being appropriate for the office. One of my faves are these J.Crew Minnie pants in cotton/stretch twill.  I've bought them in 3 colors (they come in 6), The are super slimming and are a great fit. Perfect summer office staple.
Top: Club Monaco, Pants: J Crew Minnie Stretch Twill (Cotton/Spandex), Shoes: Chanel, Bag: Longchamps, Belt: Soho boutique, Necklace: Soho street vendor.

Shoes: Chanel, Bag: Longchamps, Sunglasses: Raybans, Necklace: street vendor in Soho

Color Blocking Brights!

As many of you may know, the New York career woman uniform is customarily all black. We look like we're always headed to a wake. Now I still love black (it always matches and it the easiest thing to coordinate in my closet in the morning before my first latte) but I decided to go against the grain and go for color, LOTS of color!

4th of July in the City!

On July 4th, 1776 our founding fathers signed the Declaration of Independence, declaring the United States independence from the rule of the British Empire. Had we lost the American Revolutionary War, historical icons like Ben Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and John Hancock would have been hung as traitors. So how best do we celebrate their bravery, sacrifice and triumph? By spending the day boozing and barbecuing! Now in NYC since we don't have access to a pool, beach, or even BBQ for that matter, we celebrated at the Boat Basin on the Upper West Side. It's a outside bar/restaurant overlooking the Hudson that's tucked away underneath a roundabout on the Westside Highway. Although it was 92 degrees and sweltering in the city, the frozen Miami Vice drinks certainly cooled us down!

Sisters Bachelorette Party!- NYC

My sister came to NYC to celebrate her Bachelorette Party....if only there was actually a Magic Mike Show! We stayed at the gorgeous Gansevoort Hotel in Meatpacking. Since my sister isn't really a clubby "Models & Bottles" kind of girl, we celebrated with massages at the Exhale spa, blowouts at Blow Bar (to my British friends, "Blow Bar" has a different meaning in the U.S.), make-up done at Sephora and dinner at the Fig & Olive. Proof that you can wake-up the morning after a Bachelorette Party and not need Advil to triple-axel it's way into your mouth!

I wore a gorgeous pleated Ted Baker London dress from the spring collection. I loved the pleats and the way it moved, no jewelry necessary!

Yes this is a frequent face my big sis gives me.
